Infomart Data Centers has announced that a data center tenant has expanded operations at its Infomart Portland facility, leasing 25,000 square feet of commercial office space. The tenant expansion will add 125 staff to its existing IT processing operation. This addition will bring the total tenant and landlord headcount at the site to approximately 200 full-time personnel.
“This is a validation of our goal to own and manage premier locations for IT operations,” said John Sheputis, president of Infomart Data Centers. “Data centers are essential for modern economies. Mature IT operations move substantial amounts of IT equipment and information, both securely and with precision. These processes require more than raised floor, they require people. That’s why our facilities are designed to have the necessary space and amenities to satisfy the staff requirements of leveraged IT departments and their extended contractor base.”
“We have always thought of Hillsboro, Oregon as a destination market for IT operations. It’s gratifying when one of our clients significantly expands its operations, and chooses to bring their jobs to the communities in which our facilities are located,” Sheputis added.
Infomart’s facilities offer significant commercial office space along with large data center footprints for IT operations. Each of Infomart’s facilities features tenant lounges, shared meeting and event space and other amenities necessary to conduct day-to-day business. Infomart also recently received approval from Portland General Electric, or PGE, to become a Direct Access (DA) customer. Direct Access customers, while remaining power distribution service customers of PGE, are able to choose the energy mix and energy suppliers that fuel the data center.
“We are ecstatic to see Infomart create another 125 good-paying jobs here in Hillsboro, and we are working to help businesses continue to create new employment opportunities for residents in Hillsboro and the region,” said Hillsboro Mayor Jerry Willey. “Our long-term planning has helped position Hillsboro as an attractive location for business investment, and we are excited about Infomart’s commitment to Hillsboro, and Oregon as a whole.”
Following a 16 MW and 100,000-square-foot expansion that will finalize in mid-summer 2016, bringing the facility to a total of 24 MW and 350,000 square feet, Infomart Portland will be the largest merchant data center in Oregon and one of the largest on the U.S. West Coast.
