Cloud services and IaaS provider Leaseweb USA is expanding its data center offerings and operations throughout the east coast with a new presence in Washington, D.C., New York City and Miami.
After originally entering the U.S. market in 2011 with the establishment of its headquarters near Washington D.C. – and the most recent addition of its Miami data center in 2019 – this expansion enhances Leaseweb’s ability to deliver high-performance colocation, cloud, dedicated servers and network services to organizations of varying sizes, across multiple industries.
The expansion will involve the addition of over 115 total racks in total, as well as new personnel to meet demand and improve access to customizable, geo-redundant services.
Key highlights include:
- Increased capacity: New York City has increased its data center framework by 83 percent at its hyperscale-ready campus.
- Expanded footprint in southeast America: Miami reinforces its dominance in the Southeast by adding 50 percent more racks within its 43,000+ million square feet of data center space.
- New headquarter conversion: The Washington D.C. data center adds over 55 new racks to Leaseweb USA’s flagship facility.
“This expansion is strategic from a market perspective,” said Richard Copeland, CEO of Leaseweb USA. “We are seeing tremendous business growth and demand in these particular areas, with requests for colocation and dense power, which is driving our expansion. Out of the growing need to extend our services and presence, we are building out our Leaseweb offerings to existing and new customers while maintaining our commitment to providing Leaseweb’s unmatched, reliable, and redundant services. In a region that relies heavily on AWS, our key partnerships and local investments in these cities will provide our customers with even more opportunities to connect and expand their businesses.”
The expansion will also strengthen customer connectivity in Central and South America, with Miami acting as a starting point for customers branching into these regions, offering lightning-fast connectivity and support. The data facility is purpose-built to withstand any type of weather and has successfully been tested against Category 5 hurricanes with zero network downtime. Existing customers will also benefit from the ability to extend and configure additional services at Leaseweb’s data center to support their international growth and access these new global markets, with fewer constraints on expansion.
Leaseweb USA’s expansion along the East Coast comes on the heels of its brand new public cloud and object storage product releases. By further developing the capacity of its data centers and solutions in its ever-expanding portfolio, this investment reinforces its position and future as a global leader in hosting and cloud services.
