MASS Communications has been named one of Crain’s 100 Best Places to Work in New York City for the third consecutive year.
The award recognizes companies with the most engaged employee work forces. The annual rankings are considered the gold standard for identifying the best employers in New York City, and are unique in that the rankings rely heavily on employee engagement surveys, which account for 75 percent of the ranking calculation.
“Crain’s recognition is incredibly gratifying given the weight placed on employee feedback. Building a culture of trust and engagement has been our mission from day one,” said Darren Mass, CEO of MASS Communications. “It’s how we’ve been able to attract and keep some of the telecom industry’s brightest talent, and to build a successful people-centric business.”
The study, now in its tenth year, represented a wide array of industries throughout the five boroughs.
With 42 employees and double-digit annual revenue growth, in July MASS Communications joined the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll in recognition of consistent revenue growth performance.
The company provides 100 percent healthcare, vision and dental coverage to employees and their families. In addition to numerous incentive and bonus programs, the firm treats employees to lunch every Friday, covers personal cell phone bills and gives staff time off each year to volunteer for a charity or cause of their choice, in addition to providing donations to the designated organization.
“Happy, engaged employees translates to a thriving workplace,” noted Marc Gold, president and COO.
David L. Schwed, general counsel and CIO, added: “We reward employees who think first about customers and are exceptional at their job. When our people feel valued and taken care of, they are ready and willing to go above and beyond for our customers and partners and that’s what has made all the difference for us.”
Crain’s two-part survey process consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part examined employee survey data to measure the employee experience. The combined scores, weighted at 25 percent and 75 percent respectively, determined the top companies and the final ranking.
