New Concentric AI Governance Solution Fights Ransomware

Concentric, a provider of intelligent artificial intelligence (AI) technology for securing business-critical data, extended Semantic Intelligence, its AI-based data-access governance solution. This release is designed to help organizations protect data from ransomware attack.

The software set includes both Semantic Intelligence and Risk Distance elements, and targets attacks in three unique ways:

  • “Least-privileges” access control.
  • In-progress attack detection.
  • Full visibility into compromised content.

Semantic Intelligence works to automatically profile data access on a nonstop basis, helping organizations prepare for, detect and recover from ransomware strikes.

Risk Distance analysis, meanwhile, finds and remediates “overshared” info, promoting “least-privileges” access policy that limits access and encryption by a compromised account. The function also scans for unusual encryption activity and encryption artifacts to alert the security professional when a ransomware attack may be in progress, providing comprehensive details about the at-risk collection.

Finally, the release provides detailed insight into file content to access those areas impacted by an event.

“Until now, there was no practical way to control and understand the possible blast radius of a ransomware attack before it occurs,” said Karthik Krishnan, Concentric CEO. “Enterprises often don’t know what sensitive information they have, who can access it, or whether it’s been compromised. With Semantic Intelligence, security teams now have powerful options to prepare for, respond to, and recover from ransomware attacks. Data governance with Concentric’s unique content insights is the key to better ransomware defenses.”
