Palo Alto Networks revealed plans to acquire Protect AI, which it regards as a “game-changing” security for AI company. The transaction will enable secure pursuit of AI innovation by helping customers discover, manage and protect against AI-specific security risks, securing AI, end-to-end, from development to runtime.
This definitive agreement will allow Palo Alto to fully purchase the company, which secures AI and ML applications and models. The transaction reflects Palo Alto’s commitment to leading next-gen cybersecurity innovation and expanding capabilities to protect dynamic new attack surfaces created by AI.
Protect AI’s solutions and experts will allow Palo Alto Networks to more quickly and comprehensively accelerate its vision for Prisma AIRS, a complete AI security platform that protects transformative technology. As organizations explore embedding more AI into their processes, Prisma AIRS will allow them to deploy AI while securing the entire AI development lifecycle, meeting enterprise model-scanning requirements, conducting risk assessments and managing GenAI runtime security, posture management and AI agent security.
“As AI-powered applications become core to businesses, they bring risks traditional security tools can’t adequately handle,” said Palo Alto SVP and GM, Anand Oswal. “By extending our AI security capabilities to include Protect AI’s innovative solutions for Securing for AI, businesses will be able to build AI applications with comprehensive security. With the addition of Protect AI’s existing portfolio of solutions and team of experts, Palo Alto Networks will be well-positioned to offer a wide range of solutions for customers’ current needs and also be able to continue innovating on delivering new solutions that are needed for this dynamic threat landscape.”
“Joining forces with Palo Alto Networks will enable us to scale our mission of making the AI landscape more secure for users and organizations of all sizes,” said Protect AI co-founder and CEO, Ian Swanson. “We are excited for the opportunity to unite with a company that shares our vision and brings the operational scale and cybersecurity prowess to amplify our impact globally.”
Upon the deal’s closing, Protect AI’s CEO, founders and employees will join Palo Alto. The transaction is expected to close by Palo Alto Networks’ Q1 FY2026.
