PICS Telecom Receives Verizon Supplier Sustainability Award 2020

PICS Telecom has been selected as the winner of Verizon’s 2020 Global Sustainable Provider Award.

The award, presented by James J. Gowen, Verizon Executive Director of Sustainability, was given in recognition of the collaboration between PICS and Verizon, in support of Verizon’s sustainability initiatives around the world, through recovery, redistribution, reuse and recycling of surplus assets in all the properties of its extensive network.

In 2019, the world generated a staggering 53.6 million tons of e-waste, equivalent to an average of 7.3 kilograms per capita (The Global E-waste Monitor 2020).

If a process cannot be maintained at a certain rate or level, it is unsustainable. Network assets that end up in landfills at the end of their useful life are an unsustainable practice. Verizon and PICS work together to develop sustainable systems while proposing to reuse and recycle existing waste to move towards a greener and brighter future.

“PICS is proud to receive this award from our Verizon partners. This award is not only a testament to our spirit of helping our partners run their networks in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way possible, it also demonstrates a commitment to Verizon to be a leader in the practice of sustainability globally,” said Tim Williams, president and CEO of PICS Telecom.
