Global cybersecurity firm Secureworks appointed Ian Williamson to lead its global MSSP partner program as GM, global service providers. He will report to chief strategy officer, Chris Bell.
Williamson joins Secureworks from Tanium, where he designed, developed and led the company’s MSP program. Over a 30-year career, he held leadership positions with FogHorn Systems, Hitachi and Sun Microsystems. Williamson will specifically collaborate with Secureworks service provider partners to drive mutual growth opportunity, as demand for open architecture cyber platforms continues to rise.
“Customers are demanding more of their service providers, asking them to reduce their risk exposure while simultaneously fight the tide of an expanding IT and OT landscape and evolving threats,” said Williamson. “They need a new approach. The Secureworks Taegis platform empowers service providers to transition away from legacy technology and towards a platform that enables them to have a truly transformative impact on an organization’s cybersecurity outcomes and maturity. Our partnerships with service providers means that they can solve the fast moving and complex cyber challenges of today – and help their customers futureproof for tomorrow.”
“Joining Secureworks provides a rare opportunity to join a company that is not only focused on powering MSSPs with a core AI-enabled platform, but also in leveraging threat intel and security operations center (SOC) expertise,” he continued. “Our heritage means that we understand the use cases in a way no other company can and so are best placed to fuel MSSPs growth and profitability. I look forward to working with our service provider ecosystem to seize the sizeable opportunity we see within the market.”
MSSPs are considered by the company to be one of its fastest-growing routes-to-market, with over 50 of them having committed to building out their managed security service business on the Taegis XDR platform.
Taegis XDR allows MSSPs and advisory firms to deliver 24×7 threat prevention, detection and response, while its open architecture offers flexibility to maximize investment and support technology consolidation into one platform. The platform’s extensibility also enables MSSPs to bring their own threat intelligence for faster response times. This supports customization and relevance for customers with improved contextual understanding, and allows MSSPs to differentiate themselves in the marketplace through tailored security strategies.
“We see significant opportunities for increased collaboration for mutual, sustainable and profitable growth with our MSSP partners around the world,” said Bell. “Secureworks has big ambitions for our MSSP program as we continue to invest in, and support, our service provider community. With his leadership and proven track record, I believe that Ian is the right person to drive the next phase of our MSSP growth.”
