Torch Selects DC BLOX for Data Center Services

Atlanta-based DC BLOX, a multi-tenant data center provider, announced that government contractor Torch Technologies has chosen DC BLOX to deliver colocation, network services, and cloud storage in its Huntsville and Birmingham, Ala., data centers. Torch Technologies, headquartered in Huntsville, with more than $1.7 billion in active contracts, provides research, development and engineering services to the Federal Government.

Torch will deploy client IT infrastructure in DC BLOX’s Huntsville and Birmingham data centers. Connected with DC BLOX’s high-speed private network fabric, the solution ensures business continuity in the event of a natural or systemic disaster, said the company. DC BLOX will also provide a private network connection from Torch’s site in Huntsville. Cloud storage services in both locations will provide Torch Technologies with redundant off-site data storage.

“Torch Technologies has been interested in moving our IT infrastructure into a more secure and reliable location for years, but access to Tier 3 data centers in our area is very limited,” stated John Watson, President and CEO of Torch Technologies. “DC BLOX impressed us with the quality of their facilities and their plans to build connected data centers across the Southeast.”

DC BLOX builds Tier 3 data centers with rich connectivity to serve enterprises, government entities and contractors, education, healthcare, and content organizations, as well as managed service providers serving local markets. DC BLOX’s Huntsville and Birmingham locations are SOC 2 compliant and are built to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) government standards. DC BLOX also manages data centers in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Atlanta, Ga.

“We’re thrilled to have Torch Technologies select our data centers,” said Jeff Uphues, CEO of DC BLOX. “Torch Technologies is a highly respected government contractor in Huntsville that values the industry-leading security and performance features of our facilities and embodies the kind of customer we built our data centers for. We are proud and honored to partner with a company that puts such a strong emphasis on supporting both local communities and the men and women of our country, values we certainly share.”
