Truphone Opens San Francisco Office

Channel-friendly IP voice provider Truphone has opened a new sales office in San Francisco to serve companies in a multitude of industries across the entire West Coast, including high-tech, global commerce and finance. The company is also targeting multinational firms in California whose employees frequently conduct business globally across Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

The Bay Area is also strategic for the company as a travel gateway to destinations in Australia and Hong Kong, two locations within the “Truphone Zone.” The Truphone Zone consists of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Spain. All calls, texts and downloads within the zone are treated as local, because Truphone’s technology allows subscribers to have separate international numbers for each Truphone country on their mobile phones.

“The Bay Area is internationally renowned for its cutting-edge businesses and diverse culture,” said Tim Raby, senior vice president and general manager for Truphone Americas. “Truphone will use its unique wireless network to make it easier for these companies to communicate globally.”

He added, “Our network is custom built to deliver better call quality, faster data speeds, reliable connections and better rates internationally. We think that’s something of real value for companies as they look out over the Pacific and the rest of the world.”

The San Francisco office will be led by regional director Doug Graybeal, a veteran sales executive who has held high-level regional sales positions in telecommunications with ClearWire, CenturyLink and T-Mobile. At those companies, he was responsible for leading sales teams and account management for customers in the western U.S. A Seattle native, Graybeal earned his bachelor’s degree in economics and management from the University of Maryland.

Truphone has 13 offices in 10 countries around the world, with U.S. headquarters in Research Triangle Park in North Carolina, sales offices in New York and Houston, a research and engineering center attached to the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a U.S. operations center in Cleveland, Ohio.
