tw telecom, which is in the process of merging with Level 3 Communications, has announced it is extending the company’s network capabilities in its Las Vegas market into North Las Vegas and south into Spring Valley and Henderson.
“This expansion is the result of strong growth and demand from our existing base of customers across the Las Vegas Valley, as well as opportunities resulting from economic growth in North Las Vegas and the Valley’s southern suburbs,” said Kim Salinas, vice president and general manager, tw telecom Las Vegas. “Our continued growth and investment in Southern Nevada has enabled us to continue to competitively serve the business community as well as meet their growing needs for secure, reliable Business Ethernet solutions.”
“Economic growth has returned to Southern Nevada, and more and more business are looking for secure, fast and reliable Internet and data services,” said Jonas Peterson, COO at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance. “The tw telecom expansion will help meet existing demand and position our market for continued advancement.”
The Las Vegas expansion is part of a national multi-market effort by the company to expand its metro fiber footprint across the country this year. As part of this effort, tw telecom has already entered into one new market – Salt Lake City – and plans to enter into four other new markets – Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Richmond. The company is also accelerating the density of its metro-fiber footprint in more than a third of its existing markets. As a result, the company is expanding its sales force, including sales, support and operations personnel to support this project.
