Versa Networks, a provider of AI- and ML-powered Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), rolled out a new line of Unified SASE gateways that deliver over 100Gbps throughput. The technology is designed specifically to meet the need for compute scale, driven by the increased convergence of networking and security. Versa’s new gateways combine high-performance hardware with the Versa Operating System (VOS), a converged SASE software stack that is built on a single-pass architecture.
The gateways feature increased performance to allow organizations to consolidate networking and security functions into a single gateway.
Veritas noted that the SASE market continues to rapidly grow as enterprises look to support new digital requirements including accelerated cloud adoption, edge computing, increased use of collaboration tools and a hybrid workforce. While SASE promises to deliver a unified approach to connectivity and security, these functions have historically been delivered by a fragmented set of point products running on multiple purpose-built appliances.
Converging multiple security and network functions into a streamlined application running on a single gateway has been challenging from a throughput and performance perspective, forcing enterprises to make trade-offs between security and network performance/user experience.
Versa certified two new high-performance appliances that provide 100+Gbps throughput: the Versa CSG5000 and the Dell PowerEdge R7515. When deployed with VOS, these appliances deliver performance of up to 120Gbps (firewall throughput), 100Gbps (SD-WAN throughput) and 40Gbps (Next-Generation Firewall throughput).
