VTech Holdings, the parent company of Snom Americas and phone handset manufacturer, today announced that its indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary Gigaset Technologies (formerly Snom Solutions) completed the acquisition of Gigaset Communications’ assets. This transaction includes its manufacturing facilities in Bocholt, Germany.
VTech noted that the transaction was funded by “internal resources.”
With the acquisition, VTech gains its first manufacturing facilities in Europe, while Gigaset’s DECT (digital enhanced cordless telecommunications) business – spanning cordless phones, business telephony solutions for enterprise customers and Android-based mobile communications – will be managed and operated by the new VTech Gigaset Technologies entity. Gigaset’s cloud-based smart home business was terminated prior to the transaction.
