ZyXEL Communications has introduced a Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) switch and a Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch, two eight-port devices available via channel partners. Both are high-speed and offer connectivity to Wi-Fi, security cameras, VoIP phones and other devices that need direct access to power sources in office environments.
“At ZyXEL, we’re constantly looking for new ways to improve and simplify business networking,” said Steven Joe, executive vice president for channel business for Americas at ZyXEL. “By offering PoE+ capability on all of the switch’s ports, we’re making it easy and affordable for businesses to create Wi-Fi networks, set-up security cameras and use VoIP technology.”
Both the ES1100-8HP-240W and GS1100-8HP-240W, are plug-and-play the company said, requiring no configuration. The eight ports are fast Ethernet on the ES1100-8HP-240W and gigabit on the GS1100-8HP-240W. Each delivers 30 Watts of power.
“This is a competitive differentiator as most competing PoE+ switches support PoE+ for only half their ports, requiring businesses to purchase extra equipment and incur additional expense,” the company said.
Both the ES1100-8HP-240W and the GS1100-8HP-240W feature auto learning of network configurations, an 8K Mac learning table with 2M bits buffer memory, non-blocking and non-head-of-line blocking full wire speed forwarding, support for Auto MDI-X, Flow Control and broadcast storm control, and store-and-forward operation.
The ES1100-8HP-240W and the GS1100-8HP-240W are the latest additions to ZyXEL’s line of switches for SMBs, which includes 24- and 48-port Web-managed gigabit (GS1910 series) and 10G switches (XGS1910 series). The lineup was created to support SMB applications like VoIP, video streaming, teleconferencing and video surveillance.
