Montana-based communications solutions provider Vision Net has added Axiros’ Remote Device Manager (RDM) services to its portfolio, aimed at Tier-3 operators and the rural telecom market. The new managed voice, video and data service provides real-time, remote activation, management and monitoring of customer premise equipment (CPE).
RDM and RDM-Plus (an enhanced performance management and monitoring package) allow smaller operators to leverage managed services to accelerate their time-to-market and time-to-revenue, with a range of support, management and monitoring capabilities.
Vision Net CEO Rob Ferris says the move to RDM is a natural step for rural telecom providers. “Remote management and monitoring is the norm at the Tier-1 and Tier-2 levels,” he said. “We feel strongly that Tier-3 providers have access to the same high-end, cost-effective solutions. Partnering with Axiros provided the perfect opportunity to do so.”
At the core of the RDM managed service is Axiros AXESS.ACS, delivering TR-069 provisioning and management functionality. Using Axiros’ multi-protocol proxy, AXPAND, RDM additionally supports non-TR-069 enabled devices and protocols (including SSH, telnet, CLI, Zigbee, Z-Wave and OMCI). RDM leverages Axiros AXTRACT for real-time monitoring and performance management capabilities.
“With RDM, Tier-3 providers are able to effectively introduce, support, optimize and monetize new services and business models,” said Jenn Ryan, vice president of sales and business development for Axiros. “Vision Net brings deep and specific knowledge and experience in the Tier 3 market; they uniquely understand the challenges and opportunities that exist for service providers in this space. We’re thrilled to be their technology partner and to bring the Axiros Advantage to this new and innovative managed service offering.”
