Cloud cybersecurity and productivity provider AppRiver has increased the number of active channel partners by 128% in the EMEA region.
“2016 has been an excellent year for cloud-based security as businesses of all sizes are challenged with protecting their communications in the face of ever-evolving threats such as ransomware and other forms of malware,” said Mark Payne, sales director of UK-based Infosec Cloud. “We partner with AppRiver to provide enterprise level security at a price point SMBs can afford without requiring a dedicated IT staff to administer. That is something small businesses truly appreciate based on our renewal rates.”
As threats have multiplied and expanded in scope, more and more companies are adding layers of protection around their networks. The need for broader security led to a surge in EMEA sales of AppRiver’s SecureSurf solution that blocks web-based malware, reflecting a growing awareness among resellers and their customers of threats posed by malicious websites.
SecureSurf identifies threats already present on business networks and prevents servers from contacting known bad sites. When used in conjunction with SecureTide spam and virus filtering, businesses are protected against incoming threats and those that might be encountered while browsing the Web.
“What we’re finding is that business customers throughout the region are looking to harden their networks as quickly, efficiently and inexpensively as possible,” said AppRiver’s executive vice president Rocco Donnino. “And from a security standpoint, they certainly don’t want to take chances by betting their business on one service.”
Donnino noted a 31% increase in sales of AppRiver’s Secure Hosted Exchange, demonstrating that many EMEA-based organizations still prefer the simpler email platform over Office 365 and its associated apps. For channel partners, much stronger margins are an additional benefit contributing to its ongoing popularity in the region.
“Hosted Exchange is still a great solution for many EMEA businesses,” he said. “AppRiver’s advantage is that we provide a secure, reliable version of that service. And for those customers who want Office 365 rather than Hosted Exchange, we can seamlessly wrap our security services around that platform as well.”
“We tried AppRiver’s spam and virus filtering after it became obvious that our existing solution just wasn’t keeping pace with the new threats our business is facing,” said Gordon Allan, managing director of Steamship Sir Walter Scott Ltd, in the UK. “We saw a big difference immediately – higher capture rates, very few false positives, and an easy support experience.”
