Avnet Adds HP Converged Infrastructure Configs for VARs

Avnet Technology Solutions has unveiled six Avnet-configured HP Converged Infrastructure solutions, based on HP VirtualSystem. The solutions are available exclusively for Avnet’s HP channel partnersand VARs, and are designed to accelerate converged infrastructure initiatives for end customers.

“Converged infrastructure technology presents a key growth opportunity for our partners to attract new customers and profitably increase sales with their current customers,” said Chris Swahn, vice president and general manager at Avnet’s Americas HP solutions group. “Avnet has developed solutions that make it easier for our HP partners to bring converged infrastructure solutions to market by giving them tested configurations based on HP technology that they can present to their customers today. These solutions eliminate the need for a lengthy system design process, which will help accelerate customer buying cycles, implementation times and returns on investments.”

The offerings combine HP technologies, such as HP BladeSystem and HP ProLiant DL rack mount servers, HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage and HP networking. The result is a range of pre-configured architecture and management models. The solutions include six scalable, ready-to-implement configurations available through Avnet’s HP partner community that are optimized for small, midsize and large virtualization deployments ranging from 96 to 320+ virtual machines.

Industry analyst firm IDC predicts that worldwide converged infrastructure sales will reach $17.8 billion by 2016, representing a 40 percent compound annual growth rate.

“Resellers are under increased pressure to more rapidly and efficiently meet customers’ needs even as IT infrastructure complexities are growing,” said Tom Joyce, senior vice president and general manager for converged systems at HP. “The Avnet configured HP Converged Infrastructure solutions help channel partners overcome these challenges and quickly deliver value to their customers by reducing implementation times and management complexities, allowing them to focus on innovation instead of operations.”

The solutions also include HP installation and implementation services, and Avnet provides partners with optional migration and support services. Meanwhile, the “Avnet Technical Army” can augment partners’ pre-sales technical staff, facilitate technology demonstrations and develop configurations and systems designs.

“Converged infrastructure solutions are attractive to our customers because they reduce system complexity; however, many of our customers struggle with the design process that can span months,” said Brandon Harris, vice president of HP solutions at Logicalis U.S., an international IT solutions and managed services provider and Avnet partner. “These new Avnet-configured, HP Converged Infrastructure solutions eliminate this challenge. We are now able to install converged infrastructure solutions for our customers, aligned with their businesses, in a matter of weeks, completely transforming our conversations with customers and prospects.”
