United Network Services Inc. (UNSi) has become the exclusive fixed wireless provider and a sponsor of the 6th Annual Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson collector car auction, being held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino this week, September 26-28. This is part of UNSi’s three-year agreement with Barrett-Jackson to provide wireless Internet access for its famous auctions in Las Vegas and Scottsdale through January 2015.
Covering substantially all of the Las Vegas Valley, UNSi’s fixed wireless network (available to channel partners to sell) can scale bandwidth in a matter of hours without having to install new technology or change existing infrastructures, the company said, making it perfect for ad hoc applications in the hospitality industry, giving hotels, event centers and conference venues flexibility for bandwidth changes that depend on customer demands and event attendance.
As one of the world’s most widely attended automobile auction events, Barrett-Jackson requires significant bandwidth to help manage its automotive catalog, online bidding and live video streaming. For the Las Vegas event, UNSi is providing 70MB of symmetrical bandwidth via its fixed-wireless network to Mandalay Bay.
“UNSi has been instrumental in providing reliable fixed wireless Internet access for our car auctions in both Scottsdale and Las Vegas for over three years now,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. “Barrett-Jackson relies on UNSi to ensure that our operational and customer environments experience uninterrupted service so we can provide the most stimulating, interactive auction experience for our fans.”
Recently having acquired Airband to expand its fixed wireless proposition, UNSi serves 16 markets across the U.S. including Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Orange County, California, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego and Washington, D.C.
“UNSi’s network is particularly well-suited for the Las Vegas market because of the highly variable bandwidth needs of hotels, conference centers and other event venues,” said Stephen John, senior vice president and chief revenue officer, responsible for national sales for UNSi. “The reliability and scalability of our solution provides customers with additional bandwidth when needed, and it delivers a diverse path to ensure that their mission-critical systems can run without interruption.”
