Avnet Names IoT Practice Head

Avnet has announced that Eric Williams has been named to the newly created role of vice president of the Internet of Things (IoT) for Avnet worldwide.

Williams will develop and deploy a global IoT strategy, working across the company to design, develop and drive edge-to-enterprise IoT offerings.

In Eric, we have found an executive with global experience and a proven ability to design, develop and implement innovative programs with positive results. He has been involved in a broad variety of roles throughout the technology supply chain from identifying new market opportunities to delivering results-driven channel programs. These experiences make him the ideal candidate to lead our IoT strategy and supporting initiatives.”

Williams has served in a number of executive leadership positions in the technology industry and most recently was a strategic advisor for CABA Technologies and Moon, focused on the intelligent LED market. From 1994 to 2014, he served in progressively advancing positions with Arrow Electronics, Inc., such as executive vice president of Support Net, vice president of global strategy and vice president of global lighting. From 1987 to 1994, Williams held numerous leadership positions in sales and operations at Bell Industries.
