Cologix Expands Vancouver Data Center

Cologix has successfully completed and commissioned a major expansion to its VAN2 data center located at 1050 W. Pender St in downtown Vancouver.

Customers have immediate access to up to 750kW of new, high density data center capacity. Local Vancouver businesses have already signed to occupy 25 percent of the expansion space.

“Technology is a primary driver of Vancouver’s economic growth, with the industry relying on the availability of high quality data centers and interconnection services,” said Sean Elbe, manager of tech sector development at the Vancouver Economic Commission. “Cologix’s expansion will deliver infrastructure resiliency and enhanced access to service providers within Vancouver, increasing the city’s competitive advantages for local tech businesses.”

The expansion includes the same chimney-based hot air containment system as deployed in the first phase, which allows for power densities in excess of 10kW per cabinet.  Customers also have neutral access to 40+ network service and cloud service providers to futureproof their IT deployments.

“Vancouver has been one of Cologix’s fastest growing markets,” notes Grant van Rooyen, CEO, Cologix. “We are proud of the role we play to help facilitate connections within the technology ecosystem in Vancouver and look forward to continued investment in the market.”
