Cylance Inks Distribution Deal with Toshiba in Japan

Cybersecurity specialist Cylance has signed a distributor agreement with Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions.

Attacks by ransomware and other malicious programs have increased rapidly in recent years. CylancePROTECT is a machine-learning platform that harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to detect and prevent the execution of such malware in real time. Unlike conventional antivirus products that use signatures to detect threats, CylancePROTECT pinpoints both known and unknown malware by breaking down files to the DNA level to analyze and classify millions of attributes per file.

Prior to the launch of sales, the Toshiba Group started in-house deployment in June 2016, installing CylancePROTECT on approximately 5,500 endpoints, including virtual desktop environments.

“We are pleased to have begun selling CylancePROTECT,” said Yoshikazu Ikito, general manager for the Product and Service Marketing Division at Toshiba. “Endpoint security has become increasingly important in recent years, and I am convinced that the ability of CylancePROTECT to detect unknown malware and prevent it from executing makes it a powerful solution. The Toshiba Group itself has deployed CylancePROTECT both to further improve its security level and to gain expertise in its operation. We will make use of this expertise to help enhance customer endpoint security by providing CylancePROTECT along with related design, integration and operation services.”

“I am delighted to have concluded a sales agreement with a proven company that has supported numerous companies and social infrastructure with ICT like the Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions,” added Morihiro Kinjo, vice president of Japan Sales, Cylance Japan. “Our vision is to protect all endpoints of the world from cyber attacks. In cooperation with Toshiba Industrial ICT Solutions, we will create even greater innovation and will strive to strengthen the security of many customer endpoints.”
