Digium Moves Switchvox IP Phone to the Cloud

Digium is moving its Switchvox IP phone system for small and medium-sized business (SMB) into the cloud, with the launch of a hosted version of the platform.

Available via its channel partners, Switchvox Cloud offers unified communications features, delivered in a private cloud environment with a month-to-month payment plan.

“We have previously recognized Digium’s Switchvox premises-based solution as a complete UC platform for SMBs, providing the best value for their business phone system,” said Robert Arnold, senior industry analyst for Frost & Sullivan. “We’re pleased to see Digium now offer solutions with that same feature-rich system in the cloud, providing a compelling option for SMBs who want robust features, for a low monthly price. Customers will be able to stay connected and communicate from anywhere – in the cloud, whether users are on a mobile device, on-site, teleworking or at a remote/branch location.”

Aside from VoIP phone service and unlimited local and long distance minutes, Switchvox Cloud comes with local DID, unlimited extension-to-extension dialing and HD voice. Customers have access to all UC features for the same monthly price, per user, including mobile integration with fixed mobile convergence (FMC), voicemail, chat, presence, call queues, advanced IVRs, personal conferencing, personal call rules, monitoring, reporting, on-demand recording, and integration with Salesforce.com and SugarCRM. All UC features are included, with no additional licensing fees or add-on charges.

“Digium’s Switchvox solutions provide flexibility not found in other offerings and easily allow customers to have a consistent user experience with their phone system. They might start with a Switchvox Cloud phone system, and as their business grows and needs change, they can easily transition to an on-site Switchvox system,” said David Johnson, co-owner of the Fulcrum Group, and a Digium Select Partner. “In addition, companies can quickly and easily turn up new offices and connect their distributed workforce using a hybrid cloud/premises system. By peering a Switchvox premises system to a Switchvox Cloud instance, all users in the company, no matter where they’re located can share a common user experience across their phone system.”

The hosted model helps businesses manage their budgets by avoiding costly capital expenditures, while providing a maintenance-free business phone system, but it also offers a way for SMBs to provide consistent communications across remote workers and locations.

“Today, businesses have to support a distributed workforce and are in need of solutions like Switchvox that help seamlessly connect their main office with mobile workers and remote branch offices, all with the same user interface,” said Danny Windham, CEO of Digium. “This solution allows us to deliver the benefits of Switchvox to customers in the manner that best fits their business needs – in the cloud or on-site.”

Switchvox Cloud is available for $29 to $35 per user, per month, depending on the length of the contract (one to three years).
