Finger Lakes’ Jessica Nava Nominated as a Technology Woman of the Year

“Passion, courage to be different, the ability to shift away from their comfort zones”–these are just some of the character traits that define Digital Rochester’s Technology Woman of the Year nominees. From the telecom world, Jessica Nava, carrier sales manager at Finger Lakes Technology Group, is among the women honored.

Nava started the carrier and wholesale division at Finger Lakes Technology Group, where she’s been working for five years. The division is responsible for adding over $35 million in revenue for the telecom company.

“Telecom is a constantly changing industry that evolves all the time. … I love it and stay in it because of the people,” Nava told the Democrat & Chronicle, the local newspaper in Rochester, N.Y.

When it comes to succeeding in the field, Nava advises, “Go for it. Women in tech bring a new dimension to a traditionally male dominated field. Our nurturing character helps bring teamwork to the workplace.”

Technology Woman of the Year is awarded based on three evaluation criteria: sustained contributions to the technology profession; contributions advancing the status and opportunities for women in technology and contributions to the community.

“The award recognizes not only technology leaders, but women who have given back to the community,” said Lisa Doerner, executive director of Digital Rochester.
