Hurricane Electric Opens New PoP in Minnesota

Hurricane Electric, which offers an IPv6-native internet backbone, deployed a new point of presence (PoP) in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This PoP is located at 12450 Wayzata Blvd., 1 Floor, Ste. 110.

The data center feature reliable AC and DC power, UPS, multiple backup generators, 24×7 security and technical support. It also extends a network connection to the Midwest Internet Cooperative Exchange (MICE), an independent internet exchange.

The PoP is Hurricane’s second location in/near Minneapolis, and fourth in the state. It provides the midwest with improved fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management, in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services.

“By establishing a new point of presence in Minneapolis, we’re investing in the city’s growing tech ecosystem and providing local businesses with the robust connectivity they need to succeed,” said Mike Leber, president, Hurricane Electric. “Minneapolis is a dynamic center for innovation, and we’re proud to be expanding our network there.”

Nearby customers have new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE, 10GE and GigE ports. Additionally, customers at the facility can exchange IP traffic with Hurricane’s global network, which offers over 40,000 BGP sessions, with over 10,000 different networks, via over 310 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
