Lumos, a 100 percent fiber-optic internet and total home Wi-Fi service provider, announced an expansion into Stark County, Ohio. This upgrade brings a nearly $150 million investment of over 2,000 miles of fiber optic network.
“Lumos’ goal is to provide a leading fiber optic internet solution for each business and individual,” said Lumos CEO, Brian Stading, “which we believe will ultimately make communities better places to live, work and enjoy today and for future generations to come.”
Engineering work is already underway, with construction set to begin in 2025. The deployment, it was noted, is expected to equip homes and small businesses with access to internet services. The investment is Lumos’ third in Ohio, and is projected to pump nearly $500 million into the state’s economy.
“At the state level, we believe strongly in the benefits of broadband expansion,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development. “This latest investment by Lumos not only keeps Ohio on the cutting edge in fiber technology, but it will enhance the quality of life for the people of Stark County, help local businesses thrive and fuel economic development across Northeast Ohio.”
Lumos’ 100 percent fiber-optic internet will be available in the following communities: Canal Fulton, Canton, Canton Township, Louisville, Nimishillen Township, Massillon, Perry Township, North Canton, Jackson Township, Plain Township, East Canton, Hartville, Lake Township, Hills and Dales and Meyers Lake. The expansion is also expected to provide new job opportunities for residents.
Local residents will receive communication via mail once construction begins, and are encouraged to follow Lumos on its social media platforms.
