Masergy Communications Inc. has announced a calendar-based bandwidth scheduling capability to the company’s Intelligent Service Control (ISC) cloud-based network management application. The feature allows enterprise organizations to pre-schedule network modifications. The tool is a new selling point for the company’s channel partners.
Changes are often required to support high data usage periods, such as back up or replication, large multi-point high-definitionvideo conferencing calls, software updates or cloud computing resource allocations.
“There is an o-going trend towards providing a more ‘intelligent network,’ and features such as dynamic bandwidth allocation are creating the movement towards application-aware networks,” said Mike Sapien, principal analyst at Ovum.
“For over a decade our customers have enjoyed the ability to dynamically control their network services in real time through our ISC application,” said Tim Naramore, CTO at Masergy. “This enhancement allows our customers to pre-define network modifications to closely align IT requirements with specific business needs, and provides us the foundation to deploy software-defined network modifications based on real-time application priorities and network conditions.”
