PCCW Global and Huawei have launched their new Global High Definition Video Communications Center in Hong Kong.
The facility, located at Telecom House in Wanchai, showcases a full range of HD calling, conferencing and collaboration solutions, which are available on multiple devices including telepresence rooms, conferencing terminals, tablets and smartphones.
“Huawei has been an important technology and business partner for us,” said Marc Halbfinger, CEO at PCCW Global. “We are excited to explore new innovations in the video collaboration field together and to help our customers cost-effectively maximise the impact of HD video.”
PCCW Global offers a point-to-point cross-private network video calling service based on the cloud-based HDVC platform, jointly built by PCCW Global and Huawei. An employee can simply dial the number of another video user either within or outside their own organization, locally or abroad, and connect in HD with no need for a pre-set time or conference bridge to be arranged.
The managed network also provides fully interoperable multipoint video conferencing and video calling between, and among, users spanning more than 130 countries around the globe.
“The opening of the Global High Definition Video Communications Center is a key milestone for all carriers and enterprises to leverage on the opportunities offered by HDVC with a global reach whatever the device and whatever the access,” said Mao Yumin, vice president for the Huawei Core Network Product Line. “Huawei is extremely honored to partner with PCCW Global for this project.”
