Powernet has been recognized as a recipient of the 2015 Medical Mutual Pullar Award for Community Service. This is the fifth year Powernet has received the award, which “honors organizations and individuals that best demonstrate a commitment to making a difference.”
“Our employees outdid themselves this past year when it comes to community involvement,” said Alli Stevens, CEO of Powernet. “Whether it was donation drives for servicemen overseas, serving brunch at Ronald McDonald House, or any of the other events and initiatives they took part in, we really couldn’t be prouder of the people in this company.”
Medical Mutual and Smart Business hosted the awards ceremony at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, where Powernet and other community champions were given the spotlight and an opportunity to discuss their contributions.
“Powernet’s commitment to making our community a better place is not a side-line to their core business, it is embedded in their business,” Darlene Kamine, executive director of the Community Learning Center Institute in Lower Price Hill, said just prior to presenting the award to Stevens.
Powernet was active in the community in 2014, with major contributions made to the ALS Foundation of Southwest Ohio, donation drives for servicemen overseas, a Movember fundraising contest for men’s health initiatives, a volunteer day at Ronald McDonald House where employees prepared brunch for guests, and continued donations from the Gift1 by Powernet program including tablet donations to the Oyler School and free-access public Wi-Fi installation in Lower Price Hill, a project Kamine helped spur.
Powernet also provided sponsorship for the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes, the Life Forward Signs of Life Banquet and the Ronald McDonald House Red Tie Gala, as well as other events.
The company is extending their commitment to people in 2015 with new benefits plans announced for employees and special focus being given to exploring new opportunities to improve the community.
