Reuters: Trend Micro Could Be Purchased

Reuters exclusively reported that Japanese cybersecurity company Trend Micro could soon be subject to acquisition, with Bain Capital, Advent International and EQT among the private equity firms in talks to do so.

“People familiar with the matter” told the news outlet that Trend Micro could be valued at $8.54 billion.

The anonymous sources, meanwhile, told Reuters that Trend Micro’s potential new owner may take the company private, although no agreement is guaranteed. This transaction, Reuters noted, could serve as a signal that private equity negotiations are starting to again strenthen following interest rate hikes to slow post-pandemic inflation.

Trend Micro – which Reuters reported was considering a sale in 2024 – did not return its call for comment.
