Jerry Gallegos has joined Sprint as president of the West Area.
Based in Phoenix, he will be responsible for sales strategy, network oversight, customer service, marketing communications and general operations supporting the full portfolio of Sprint products and services from enterprise to consumer across 14 western states, including western Texas. Gallegos will report to Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure.
Gallegos will lead one of the four geographic areas – West, Central, Northeast and South – Sprint created when it reorganized to devote targeted resources to 18 top regions. Under Gallegos’ leadership, the area, which includes Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco, will develop market-specific offerings that serve the needs of consumer and business customers in the West.
“Jerry brings a wealth of wireless industry and sales experience to Sprint, as well as a deep understanding of consumer trends and preferences in the West geographic area,” said Claure. “We’re pleased with the results of our localization efforts so far, and I’m confident that Jerry has what it takes to build on our momentum in the West.”
The West geographic area covers Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, western Texas and Wyoming. It encompasses nearly 1,170 Sprint-branded retail stores.
“Sprint’s regional structure is about listening to consumers and delivering a best-in-class wireless experience,” Gallegos said. “We have an incredible opportunity to expand the company’s footprint in the West area, and I’m excited to lead these efforts.”
Gallegos comes to Sprint with more than 25 years of sales and wireless industry experience. Most recently, Gallegos was vice president of field sales for the West at Cox Communications. Before that, he served as vice president of residential sales for the Southwest region and as vice president of residential sales in Arizona. Before Cox Communications, Gallegos held a variety of leadership roles in sales and marketing at Alltel Wireless, Western Wireless, AT&T Broadband/Comcast, Verizon Wireless and General Mills Inc.
