Telesystem Appoints Telecom Industry Veteran James Maloney as President

Telesystem – a nationwide provider of cybersecurity, networking and communication solutions – announced James Maloney as its newest President. In his new role, Maloney will assume responsibility for Telesystem’s growth and expansion, in addition to ensuring the achievement of annual financial goals and the overall strategic plan.

With more than three decades of experience in the telecom industry, Maloney has a proven track record of successfully leading digital and business transformations to drive growth and market expansion. He has held a number of key leadership positions in sales and operations across several successful organizations, including TPX, CloudCall and DSCI, where he was a founding partner.

Hisability to predict changing market conditions and rapidly adapt organizations have been cornerstones to his successful career.

In 2000, Maloney founded and led DSCI, where he built a carrier-grade network and transformed the business first into a facilities-based CLEC, and later into a national UCaaS provider. Maloney led the sale of DSCI to TPX in 2016 and remained with TPX to lead the eastern U.S. until his 2019 departure. His success continued at CloudCall, where he served as the CRO and acting COO, leading the division through a significant cultural transformation and playing a key role in the successful sale of the company.

“I am pleased to welcome James Maloney into our executive team,” said Block Communications president and COO, Jodi Miehls.  “We have great chemistry as a leadership team, and James will fit right in as we move our strategic plan forward.  I’m excited to see some of the new and exciting ideas he will bring to the company in 2024 and beyond.”

“Telesystem is a truly remarkable company with a team of talented professionals, an unwavering dedication to their customers, and a security-focused strategy that is poised to take advantage of the dynamic changes in the technology industry,” said Maloney. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the Telesystem family and am eager to advance the strategy that Rick Mlcek, Bruce Wirt, and Denton Parson and the rest of the team have created. Together, we will lead this great company into a bright and prosperous future.”

Telesystem’s core go-to-market strategy revolves around developing technology solutions for SME organizations that value a trusted layer of expertise and a managed experience that allows them to focus on their own business rather than vendor management. It boasts a nationwide 100G network to offer voice, networking, managed security, and cybersecurity coast to coast. Strategically, new retail business opportunities are mostly driven through the technology brokerage channel. Telesystem has umbrella agreements with major Technology firms like Scansource, Sandler Partners, Telarus and AppDirect, among others.

Telesystem will play a major role in this week’s IT EXPO in Fort Lauderdale, with a booth in the expo center as well as a team member leading one cybersecurity educational session. Looking forward, Telesystem will bring former NBA slam dunk champion Spud Webb to Channel Partners Las Vegas March 11 to the 14th, and will hold their wildly popular #HackersSuck cybersecurity summits in Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field – May 15), Dallas (The Star – Cowboys Practice Facility – July 16) and Cincinnati (Great American Ballpark – September 11).
