Tenable Expands Cloud Position

Tenable Network Security has appointed Sean Molloy as vice president of cloud services. The move dovetails with the release of the company’s Nessus Cloud product.

Molloy will be responsible for overseeing the operations, deployment, design and architecture of a complete Tenable product lineup in the cloud.

“As more organizations rely on enterprise-wide software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications for day-to-day operations, cloud security becomes a critical concern,” said Ron Gula, CEO, Tenable Network Security. “Tenable is investing heavily in cloud and Sean Molloy is exactly the right blend of visionary leader and hands-on project manager to help us give customers more choice and flexibility by delivering all of Tenable’s products as cloud services.”

Nessus Cloud brings the Nessus vulnerability management functions to SaaS platforms and local systems in a Tenable-hosted managed cloud service, eliminating overhead costs. It builds on the capabilities of its predecessor, Nessus Enterprise Cloud, to provide enhanced remote management of distributed scanners and collaboration features that allow security, compliance, IT and other staff to work together on their vulnerability management program.

Going forward, Tenable said that it will shape its cloud offerings into a global platform that complements the company’s existing line of continuous network monitoring and vulnerability management products.

Prior to joining Tenable, Molloy served as director of software engineering at Qualys before being promoted to chief architect. During this time, Molly was responsible for the design, architecture and deployment of the company’s next-generation cloud platform and the company’s transition to a services-based software model.
