Veeam Software Reaches Five-Year Strategic Agreement with Microsoft

Data protection and ransomware recovery company Veeam Software announced an extended, five-year strategic agreement with Microsoft. With this deal, the organizations will collaborate to develop new solutions for protecting customers. In particular, they plan to integrate Veeam’s product family with Microsoft Copilot and AI services.

In addition to joint innovation, the companies will also release data protection services for Microsoft 365 and Azure, with the recently announced Veeam Data Cloud.

This multi-year engineering collaboration includes the development of capabilities to keep organizations running despite facing increased risk of cybersecurity attacks, outages and natural disasters. The combination of Veeam’s backup and recovery capabilities with Microsoft’s innovation and scale is expected to help customers improve cyber resiliency.

The collaboration includes:

  • Joint development work to bring additional AI capabilities to Veeam backup and recovery products.
  • Integrated support for APIs for Microsoft 365 backup storage, to enable accelerated backup and restore speeds within Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.
  • Joint go-to-market activities to co-sell Veeam protection and recovery capabilities for Microsoft 365 and Azure customers.
  • Veeam backup and recovery capabilities for Microsoft Azure.
  • Accelerated on-premise customer migration to the Veeam Data Cloud, hosted on Azure.
  • Customer migration to – and protection for – Azure Kubernetes Services with Kasten by Veeam.

Veeam also provides capabilities to help customers protect and recover Microsoft 365 and Azure data, including protecting Microsoft 365 apps and data from cyberthreats with access controlled, logically air-gapped and immutable backups; anywhere restoration and unified protection for Microsoft-hosted IaaS, PaaS and SaaS under a single web console.
