Webair, Long Island’s carrier-neutral meet-me room, has announced unified, Long Island-centric connectivity offerings for customers requiring transatlantic cable and Manhattan bypass fiber access.
These include fully managed services such as colocation and cloud, and redundant connectivity at the edge. At the heart of the partnership is a direct, redundant and low latency connection between the companies’ carrier-neutral colocation facilities: 1025Connect’s facility located at 1025 Old Country Road in Westbury, N.Y. and Webair’s NY1 data center in Garden City, N.Y., facilitated by over a dozen carriers.
The new offerings are geared towards content providers looking to serve Long Island, one of the largest tier II markets in the country with 7.6 million pairs of “eyeballs”. Content providers benefit from:
- NY1: a Tier III, SSAE 16 certified data center facility;
- low latency connectivity to and around Manhattan;
- access to ultra-low latency transatlantic and Caribbean submarine cable systems;
- access to Manhattan bypass fiber routes;
- robust interconnection ecosystems found in both facilities’ meet-me rooms (MMRs), doubling interconnection capabilities to approximately 15 leading providers;
- 24×7 support; and
- an extensive ecosystem of fully managed, HIPAA-compliant cloud solutions.
“The collaboration between 1025Connect and Webair combines world-class facilities, services, and technical support teams, and increases connectivity options two-fold, offering our network operator, carrier and enterprise customers optimized connectivity and interconnection solutions,” says Dan Lunde, managing director at 1025Connect. “This partnership also offers content providers enhanced options for high-quality edge caching between the U.S. and Europe. With increased access to more direct routes, providers can now enjoy faster speeds and more reliable service, bypassing New York for lower latency, and making content accessible leveraging numerous submarine cable systems.”
The collaboration is backed by Webair’s fully redundant, Tier III data center space, which is both SSAE 16 and HIPAA-certified, carrier-neutral and offers low-cost interconnection. Customers also gain access to a full range of managed services, including hybrid enterprise private cloud, disaster recovery, storage, security and full application stack management, as well as a host of network, fiber and third-party cloud providers.
