Windstream Expands 500G into Miami

Windstream has announced the expansion of its 500G long-haul core network into Miami.

“Windstream Carrier Solutions has been aggressively expanding its network in order to provide high-bandwidth transport solutions to our customers needing greater connectivity to and from Florida,” said Jeff Brown, director of product management and product marketing at Windstream Carrier Solutions. “This latest expansion enables Windstream to provide solutions to network operators and web-scale cloud/content providers leveraging our 500G DWDM Express Network.”

Windstream Carrier Solutions provides customer connectivity up to 100G in Jacksonville. The  network expansion to Miami gives customers the ability to now order 1G, 10G, 40G or 100G wave transport connectivity. 10G wave services are also available to more than 60 point-of-presence (POP) locations throughout Florida, including nearly 40 in the greater Miami metropolitan area.

Windstream has been deploying the Infinera DTN-X platform, part of the Infinera DTN-X Family of next-generation terabit-class transport network platforms, which delivers 100G coherent transmission capacity via 500G super-channels.

By the year’s end, Windstream Carrier Solutions plans to provide:

  • Wave services from 1G to 100G spanning across 121,000 miles of fiber
  • 100G service in 44 markets
  • Standardized 10G pricing throughout its expansive regional and metro fiber networks in 33 states, available via Windstream’s carrier portal
  • Express install guarantee of 25 calendar days for qualifying orders
