Overall wireless LAN market revenues remain on track to reach a market high of almost $13 billion in 2019, representing more than 30 percent growth over 2015 revenues.
According to Dell’Oro Group, key technology transitions during the forecast period, including Wave 2 802.11ac access points, 2.5 and 5Gbps Ethernet interfaces on access points, and continued adoption of cloud-managed WLAN services, are anticipated to drive significant volume increases.
“We expect robust uptake of 802.11ac Wave 2 devices during the forecast because in our user surveys, we have learned that enterprises have experienced significant and immediate wireless traffic increases immediately after 802.11ac Wave 1 installations are complete,” said Chris DePuy, vice president at Dell’Oro Group. “Users are consuming whatever Wi-Fi bandwidth is made available to them in high-usage settings like universities and K-12 schools.”
Thanks to the bring your own device (BYOD) trend, a growing number of business and vertical-specific mobile applications, and the development of advanced network infrastructure, the enterprise WLAN is becoming a crucial part of the enterprise.
