Birch Promotes Scott Murphy to CFO

Birch Communications has promoted Scott Murphy to the role of vice president and CFO. Murphy will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management at the company.

Murphy brings more than 25 years of experience that spans several industries to the role. He has served as the vice president of accounting at Birch for the past five years. He’s a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), earned his MBA from Emory University and has a BBA in accounting from the University of Georgia.

“We value all of our employees and are especially pleased to watch someone grow into greater responsibilities at Birch,” said Vincent Oddo, president and CEO of Birch. “Scott has been an integral part of our success over the past five years. His execution in assimilating the financial reporting, systems and personnel for 17 acquisitions during the past five years has added to the financial strength of Birch. We all look forward to his continued and expanded contribution for many years to come.”

The company also announced that Rhand Williams will replace Murphy as the company controller. Williams, who will report to Murphy, will be responsible for managing all accounting and financial reporting functions. Williams is a CPA that previously held VP and executive positions at Gentiva, Verizon/MCI and Sprint, where he performed various finance functions including accounting, financial reporting, financial planning, analysis and strategic sourcing.
