Carrier Access Buys Tektivity

Carrier Access has acquired Tektivity Inc, a Cedar Rapids-based technology services company. The move shifts the company into the regional market for managed services.

“Carrier Access has operations extending from Des Moines to Kansas City and Minneapolis. Tektivity’s operations span the Eastern Iowa Corridor and into Illinois; this acquisition allows us to enter the regional managed services market and contribute greatly to the development of technology in the Heartland,” said Brendan Phelps, founder and president of Carrier Access. “The opportunity to acquire Tektivity made complete sense to me because it allows us to play to the strengths of our industry. Telecom and computer technology are coming closer together. With this move, we can now set ourselves apart by being more for our clients; essentially, by being their guide to all of their technology, rather than just one facet of it.”

Shane Kennedy, director of sales at Carrier Access, added, “Tektivity’s offerings closely aligned with our current product offerings of managed services, help desk services, voice/data networking and project management,” says Kennedy. “We are looking forward to improving the experience and value for our client base in Eastern Iowa. We are extremely excited about all the new services we can now provide them.”

Carrier Access will maintain its current office in the Des Moines area, as well as Tektivity’s office in Cedar Rapids.
