Catbird Forms Federal Group, Appoints VP

Catbird, which provides security policy automation and enforcement for private clouds and virtual infrastructure via its channel partenrs, has expanded its federal government market strategy through the appointment of vice president Bill Rohrs. He will lead the company’s newly established federal group from offices in Reston, Va.

Federal agencies are increasingly choosing virtualized and cloud infrastructure as a means to reduce costs and comply with mandates. Catbird said that it sees an opportunity to help these agencies manage the requirements of acts and regulations including FISMA, DIACAP, HIPAA, PCI, and the NIST 800-53 guidelines for federal information systems.

“The federal government business is a big part of our continued success, and we’re seeing significant and growing demand,” said Edmundo Costa, CEO for Catbird. “Bill is instrumental to our growth in this area because he understands the security and regulatory compliance issues facing federal organizations. His reputation and relationships at the federal level will help us best meet the needs of this demanding customer base.”

Rohrs, a seasoned executive at Catbird, has previously held positions including chief customer officer and sales director. Prior to joining Catbird he founded Pyramid Computer USA, served as a consultant to the founding team of Gridapp, Inc., and was the COO of Netilla.

“The federal government is a strategically significant sector for Catbird,” said Rohrs. “The launch of this initiative and our new office in Virginia will allow us to work closely with these agencies and their security and compliance needs.”
