Digicel, a VAR, has selected ADTRAN ProCloud to deliver wireless networks throughout the Caribbean, with a first deployment is at the Blue Horizons Garden Resort in Grenada.
The cloud-managed wireless service unifies network elements onto one centrally-managed Wi-Fi platform. Additional mesh networking capabilities extend wireless coverage indoors and outdoors where running cabling is difficult, impossible or costly.
“Having a cloud-managed Wi-Fi service means our IT staff can outsource wireless network maintenance, monitoring and management, freeing them up to address other IT concerns should they arise,” said Arnold Hopkin, owner and manager of the Blue Horizons Garden Resort. “While our guests enjoy reliable Wi-Fi access, we can focus on providing them with elite customer service and an exceptional Caribbean experience.”
The remote nature of the Caribbean islands can make network management challenging. One of those challenges was securing a single carrier that could reach all access points throughout the entire resort. The resort was concerned that a disjointed network could result in spotty coverage, extra man hours and less time devoted to other guests’ IT issues.
“ADTRAN ProCloud simplifies our ability to optimize Wi-Fi networks,” said Justin Boylan, business solutions sales manager for Digicel Grenada. “Instead of spending countless hours individually managing vendors and infrastructure, we can focus on improving network efficiency and performance to deliver a better experience for the end-user. ADTRAN offers expert support and training, which further extends the value of the solution and provides us with the confidence to expand our managed services portfolio to more clients and new markets.”
