Extreme Networks Announces New SVP, Global Channel and Strategic Initiatives

Extreme Networks, which provides AI-powered automation for networking, appointed Joe Spencer as SVP of global channel and strategic initiatives. Spencer brings deep expertise in the networking space, and will drive global channel sales and growth initiatives. He will report directly to chief commercial officer, Norman Rice.

In this role, Spencer will build and oversee the global channel sales teams, facilitating enabling growth through strategic alliances, channel partners, resellers and distributors, in addition to driving strategy, implementation and execution for Extreme’s GTM channel sales motions and programs.

“As a channel-led company, our success hinges on strong relationships, clear differentiation and a bold, executable strategy,” said Rice. “Joe brings the vision and experience necessary to scale several thriving go-to-market motions as we join forces with our partners to drive the convergence of AI, networking and security,”

Spencer previously served as COO, Americas enterprise sales, Juniper Networks, and held senior strategic roles with AWS, Zscaler and Cisco. In these roles, he helped build and execute successful channel programs.

“The networking industry is at a critical turning point, with AI reshaping expectations and customers under pressure to deliver more with fewer resources,” said Spencer. “Extreme is leaning into this shift — launching Platform ONE to empower both enterprises to unlock productivity and MSPs to benefit from flexible and scalable commercial models. I’m excited to join a company that’s not just talking about transformation but actively enabling partners to thrive through innovative platforms and go to market motions.”
