FairPoint Communications has launched a virtual customer premise equipment (vCPE) option, which is a cloud-based routing solution that eliminates the need for traditional dedicated routing hardware for WAN, IP and VoIP services on-premises.
“This service delivery option is ideal for small-to-medium businesses and offers a cost-effective solution with flexibility in provisioning and deployment,” said Doug Abolt, vice president of commercial product management at FairPoint. “vCPE provides businesses with a reliable and scalable routing solution that simplifies operations and reduces capital expense by eliminating the need for continued investment in routing hardware.”
The team at FairPoint Communications manages all routing components, along with service upgrades and maintenance, allowing for the delivery of customized solutions, the company said.
It also said that the cloud-based model allows automatic redundancy and built-in geographical diversity, assuring virtually no downtime with vCPE service delivery. Additionally, with 16x the survivability of a traditional on-site router, vCPE provides service-level assurance-backed, dedicated symmetrical Ethernet services.
vCPE is available to businesses in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
