FiberLight, LLC has partnered with BYTEGRIDHoldings to introduce a turnkey “building-to-cage” and “cage-to-cage” network transport solution called Maryland Connect.
BYTEGRID will connect its 214,000 sq. ft. Silver Spring, Md. data center campus to FiberLight’s high performance fiber optic network. FiberLight’s network connectivity spans 600 plus route miles from Baltimore and Washington D.C. to central and Northern Virginia, passing through thousands of businesses, government facilities, and the region’s data centers.
BYTEGRID’s campus consists of two data center facilities (MDC1 and MDC2) encompassing 91,000 sq. ft. of computer room floor and 9 MWs of UPS power capacity. MDC1 is the largest multi-tenant data center in Maryland, offering a high availability solution through a concurrently maintainable and fault-tolerant design. Customers will have the option to choose from a 1Gig, 10Gig, or dark fiber solution, delivered over a private, low-latency network to the campus.
“We are extremely excited to work with FiberLight on an interconnection solution allowing us to expand connectivity options in response to demand from our large commercial and federal government customers,” said Don Goodwin, executive vice president of leasing and marketing at BYTEGRID. “Maryland Connect provides new levels of access for carriers and other data centers as they serve enterprise and government customer needs for data center expansions, new connectivity options from their office or cage to a diverse data center, or in support of data center migrations.”
”BYTEGRID has quickly established itself as the leading interconnection point in Maryland and is now positioned to expand its offering to serve the broader Washington D.C. metropolitan market including Northern Virginia,” said FiberLight’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, Dave Spitznagel. “FiberLight continues to expand its high performance fiber optic network across Maryland, Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia, and this partnership is another milestone in enabling current and future customer goals.”
