Fortanix Inc., a multi-cloud data security company and pioneer of “Confidential Computing,” has released Fortanix Confidential Data Search, a solution that supports unlimited secure queries of encrypted databases with complex data sets, without compromising data security or compliance with global privacy regulations.
Fortanix will showcase the product at the 2023 Confidential Computing Summit on June 29 in San Francisco. General availability of Fortanix Confidential Data Search is targeted to roll out in the second half of this year.
Current solutions that enable secure searches of encrypted data in use predominantly are based on proprietary cryptographic technologies, which are impractical for general adoption in data-mining operations involving complex medical or financial datasets.
Such traditional approaches can be 1,000 to 1,000,000 times slower than searching in standard databases, resulting in unacceptable system latency at scale. In addition, these technologies require additional solutions to police the different levels of access, as mandated by security best practices and effective policies and regulations.
Data privacy and security legislation is a concern for verticals such as health care and finance that want to accelerate their businesses with data-driven intelligence. Fortanix’s Confidential Data Search solution addresses these data protection requirements while maintains full support for streamlined business operations.
The solution supports the need for intra-organizational data analysis of complex data sets that are subject to regulatory and compliance controls such as HIPAA, GDPR, FINMA, PCI-DSS, or similar, applicable to specific geographies and role-based access requirements.
