CHICAGO — Global Capacity, a telecommunications information and logistics company, announced co-founder and CEO Patrick Shutt will transition to a new role as vice chairman of the board, and COO Jack Lodge has been promoted to president, effective today.
In his new role as vice chairman, Shutt will continue to help guide Global Capacity’s strategic direction, while also pursuing new entrepreneurial ventures in the cloud space.
Shutt has been an innovative leader in the access network market, dating to 1997 when he co-founded Universal Access. Under his leadership, Global Capacity’s One Marketplace Access Exchange has become an industry benchmark for automation and efficiency in the access network space, achieving unprecedented growth in automated quote demand and order volume over the past 12 months.
Under his guidance, Global Capacity has achieved 18 consecutive months of positive EBITDA.
We are extremely pleased that Patrick has agreed to join our board as vice chairman,” said F. Francis Najafi, Chairman of the Board of Global Capacity, and CEO of Pivotal Group. “Patrick is a visionary leader in this market, and his strategic guidance will be a welcome addition to our Board.”
Shutt said, “I am excited to be joining the Global Capacity Board as I pursue the next steps in my career. Global Capacity’s business is the strongest it has ever been, and is well positioned for dynamic growth. I look forward to supporting Jack and the board as the company executes its plans in 2013 and beyond.”
In his new role, Lodge will assume responsibility for all aspects of the strategy and execution of the Global Capacity business. Lodge joined Global Capacity through the acquisition of CentrePath in 2006, and he has served as COO since 2008.
Under his leadership, the company has established One Marketplace Access Exchange as the premier platform for automated access solutions. In that time, the number of customers and suppliers participating in the exchange has grown steadily, while the company has achieved significant improvements in gross margin and EBITDA performance.
“Jack Lodge has demonstrated exceptional leadership and execution in his role as COO, and we are delighted to have him lead the company as its new President,” Najafi said. “We believe strongly in the growth potential of Global Capacity, and we have great confidence in Jack’s ability to deliver.”
Lodge said, “I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Global Capacity as it enters its next phase of growth. With a great team, growing base of customers and the industry leading One Marketplace platform, I am confident we will be successful.
“I am grateful to continue to have access to Patrick’s leadership and guidance as a member of the board, and I look forward to working closely with the entire board to help Global Capacity achieve its potential.”
