NISC Once Again Offers Free Cybersecurity Awareness Kit

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and staying safe online and protecting valuable data and personal information continues to be a struggle for both businesses and families alike. Now more than ever, it is imperative to realize the range of threats go far beyond phishing emails. Apps containing malware, unsecure WiFi networks and hotspots and exploiting improper data sharing techniques are increasingly common methods cyber criminals use to gain access to your information.

The cornerstone of cybersecurity – both in workplaces and in homes – is education, and National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) has developed a comprehensive kit to help organizations and families grow their cybersecurity awareness.

Designed specifically for rural electric cooperatives, public power utilities and broadband companies, the kit includes short, animated videos; downloadable bill inserts; social media content; and retractable banners. The free CyberSense kit is available for download at www.nisc.coop.

“NISC has been in the tech industry for over half a century, and we felt we had valuable knowledge we could share,” said Jeff Nelson, NISC general counsel and vice president of information security and risk management. “We created this kit years ago to help everyone – NISC Members and non-Members alike – to protect their critical data from cyberattacks. When we can share best practices for online safety, not only do our members thrive, so does each community as a whole.”

NISC’s expertise in cybersecurity extends into its software, with a full suite of solutions designed to help members protect their organizations from attacks, including education, detection and response solutions, endpoint protection, patch management, perimeter defense tools and vulnerability management solutions.
