Pacnet Appoints Carrier Sales Chief for Data Centers

Pacnet has appointed Keith Russell Shaw as director of data center sales for the carrier market as part of the company’s global effort to broaden its data center footprint throughout Asia-Pacific. Shaw will be based in Hong Kong, overseeing all data center requirements for Pacnet’s global carrier customers.

“I am excited to take on the challenge of expanding Pacnet’s data center footprint in APAC with the team,” said Shaw. “With a wide network of interconnected data centers and the robust subsea cable infrastructure, Pacnet is uniquely positioned to meet the ever-growing data center and bandwidth demands in the region.”

Shaw brings more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and engineering sectors. Prior to Pacnet, Shaw held a number of senior-level positions, most recently serving as head of sales for Europe, Middle East and Asia at SEACOM and director of sales for the Asia Pacific & Africa Region at Interoute.  He also held the position of sales director of Europe at both CNT, an IBM affiliate, and Dynegy.  From 2000 to 2002, Shaw served as European sales ddirector with Pangea Networks. He began his career as an apprentice at BT Global Services, progressing to a data sales specialist by the end of his tenure in 2000.

“We are pleased to have someone of Keith’s caliber join Pacnet as we enter our next phase of strategic investment in data center services targeted at the carrier market,” said John Garrett, president of carrier services at Pacnet.  “I am confident that Keith will prove instrumental in helping the company continue to expand our data center footprint to address the increasing compute, storage and power demands of our global carrier customers.”

Pacnet operates over 300,000 square feet of data center space across 14 cities in major markets including Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.  Over the past several months, Pacnet announced the expansion of a data center in Sydney, Australia and the launch of a new data center in Chongqing, China, as well as plans of building an advanced data center in Singapore.
