AT&T Expands Fixed-Wireless Service to 8 states

AT&T has revealed that its Fixed Wireless Internet service is now available in eight new states, namely Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Louisiana, following the debut of the service in Georgia in April this year.

According to reports by TeleGeography, the deployment is part of the FCC Connect America Fund commitment, under which more than 400,000 locations in rural and underserved/unserved areas will be provided with a home broadband connection with speeds of at least 10Mbps by the end of 2017 (over 1.1 million locations by 2020).

Going forward, AT&T is aiming to expand the fixed-wireless service to 18 states later this year, with forthcoming deployments in Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin
