CONCORD, Calif. – LightRiver Technologies Inc., a leader in the deployment of fully-integrated, multi-technology communications networks, announced it was chosen to work with CVIN LLC dba Vast Networks Next-Generation Packet Optical Infrastructure using Multiprotocol Label Switching –Transport Profile (MPLS-TP) carried over 100G capable Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) technology backbone.
This dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) based network is funded by the federal government’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus program.
Vast Networks, together with its public sector partner CENIC (The Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California), is implementing a project designed to improve the availability of broadband infrastructure for 18 counties within the California Central Valley area.
The robust network infrastructure will change the ways residents in these 18 counties learn, work and live together. The funding of the application will create jobs associated with network deployment and contribute to economic growth in the longer term.
This project involves building, operating and maintaining a fiber-optic network infrastructure that traverses 1,750 miles of California’s Central Valley and connects 19 county offices of education, 14 community colleges, three California State University campuses, 20 county/main libraries and seven public safety sites.
In addition, Vast Networks will use the infrastructure to offer commercial broadband telecommunications services to businesses within 1,973 communities and numerous government agencies in the 18-county Central Valley Region of California. In addition, Vast Networks offers wholesales services, dark fiber and residential wireless services.
