Nationwide managed telecom service provider Nitel has expanded its North American IP network. Building on an aggressive network expansion plan that began in 2013, Nitel has broadened its footprint in the Midwest and Southwest by adding 70,000 buildings with Ethernet connectivity.
The Nitel network delivers network service on its Cisco-powered MPLS core to business clients nationwide through 67 core and access PoPs across the country. With the expansion, Nitel’s network now consists of more than 150,000 buildings lit with competitive fiber. This marks a 51% increase in total network coverage over the previous year, with plans for additional sites in the future.
Through the Nitel network, the company delivers a wide variety of access technologies, including Ethernet over Copper – available from 1,430 central offices – as well as T1, DS3, SONET, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet.
“The recent additions to our network afford our customers highly competitive pricing as well as true RBOC last mile diversity,” COO Ron Grason said. “With this expansion Nitel continues to strengthen our core nationwide network, while positioning ourselves for future growth.”
