TDS Telecom Taps Equinox for Automated Solution

Nashville-based Equinox Information Systems announced that TDS Telecom, the 7th largest local exchange telephone company in the U.S., has implemented the Protector fraud management system (FMS). Currently processing hundreds of millions of call records per day for its customers around the globe, Protector is a reliable and affordable tool for combatting telecommunications fraud, says Equinox. TDS Telecom licensed this Equinox solution in 2014 after evaluating the automated FMS’s capabilities.

Protector provides real-time fraud protection by separating legitimate customer usage from fraudulent events. Protector instantly notifies analysts when suspicious activity occurs, with higher risk incidents triggering more frequent alerts, including escalation alerts when warranted. Because Protector employs dynamic usage profiling and proprietary monitoring metrics to identify suspicious activity, it detects all types of fraud—even the newest schemes—across all customer bases and call types, says Equinox.

“Protecting our network and our customers is a top priority for TDS Telecom,” explained Nichole Schneeberger, who is the Commercial Product Manager at TDS Telecom.. Protector is an important component in our overall strategy to do just that.”

“Having TDS Telecom rely on Equinox as their FMS vendor further strengthens Protector’s position as an industry-leading solution,” added David West, Executive Vice President for Equinox Information Systems.
